Nissan has refreshed the 2016 Nissan Sentra in an effort to keep pace with the competition, including two main rival compact sedans that got full redesigns this. The Sentra steps above its class by offering dual-zone climate control, navigation, a backup camera, upgraded Bose sound system and the NissanConnect infotainment system, but these options are becoming common in the subcompact class. These active driver aids are only just beginning to migrate into smaller, less expensive cars, and the Sentra is one of the first in its class to offer them. Spreading this uncompromising design across the whole lineup is a great way to improve visibility, and the Sentra is a car that could use the boost. Taillamps and rear fascia get reshaped also.
The updated 2016 Sentra goes on sale in December. Actually it was very reliable, nice looking, good mileage, and a good value. I had a 2004 Sentra before this one and it had to be good or I wouldn't have done it again. The rear seat can undoubtedly keep three pre-teenagers, even though men and women will want much more headroom and a higher chairs placement which can not be achieved without having elevated the roof structure. Oddly, the entrance seats sense too high. Now enjoying its sixth generation, the existing Sentra markets nicely.
A rollover sensor deploys the side-curtain bags if the Sentra is inverted. A good car all in all. Other available features range from Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control and a Bose® Premium audio system with eight speakers, to Nissan Intelligent Key® keyless entry and push button ignition system and RearView Monitor. Where the Sentra stands out somewhat is with the addition of intelligent cruise control, collision-mitigation automatic braking and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert. Sentra market share has also nearly doubled in the last three years. More attractive sheet metal over good mechanicals is always a good way to go, especially with value-branded cars. Versus the competition: Improvements make the 2016 Sentra better overall but don't give it a leg up over recently updated competition such as the 2016 Honda Civic, which is better to drive and has a nicer cabin. I've had it for a year.
