The Lucky One is a romantic movie that was based off of a book by the famous author, Nicholas Sparks. The characters really should've been sweating more, and there wasn't enough mud after that tropical storm! Despite her initial mistrust and the complications in her life, a romance develops between them, giving Logan hope that Beth could be much more than his good luck charm. Learning her name is Beth and where she lives, he shows up at her door, and ends up taking a job at her family-run local kennel.
He then discovers that it was her brother who had the picture only he doesn't remember him. He is admiring it when his unit is attacked. He then goes there and finds her. It isn't long that he makes a connection with her son. When he goes back to the States, he finds it difficult to adjust and is still haunted by what happened. I spent more time looking at the pictures then I did getting involved in the storyline which really seemed like nothing I hadn't seen a million times before with small twists.
He survives and credits the photo for saving him. As the film progresses, Logan grows closer to Beth and her son, Ben. . It does not take long for Logan to find out that the woman, whose name turns out to be Beth, is a local who works at a dog kennel. He tries to tell her what happened but can't get the words out. He turns to the picture of the woman he thinks of as his guardian angel. She assumes he's there to apply for the job they advertised looking for someone to help at her family's business, a dog kennel. When he returns to Colorado, he has difficulties to adjust to civilian life with his sister's family and he decides to seek out the woman. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault who is desparately searching for a woman, Beth played by Taylor Schilling whose photo served as a good-luck charm to the Sergeant and ultimately saved his life during the war. It was such a treat to experience all the emotions and trials of the characters without them resorting to bad language.
I don't think that it is cheesy; I think that most of the characters behaved in a way that most of us would think of as normal. However, Logan finds that he does not really fit into his life anymore. Storyline: Logan is a marine serving in Iraq. We have watched this so many times I have lost count and each time we watch it, I see something different that I hadn't noticed before which is awesome. He is admiring it when his unit is attacked. I also preferred the plot lines and character personalities in the book.
Soon Logan befriends Beth's son Ben and becomes close to the family. Zac Efron is terrific as is Taylor Schilling and their characters have a depth that is inspiring. Hollywood does love its stereotypes! Each character plays a pivotal part in determining their own personal destiny. The filming, the color quality and the locations were absolutely stunning. He learns her name is Beth.
As a former Marine who miraculously was spared from almost certain death, he has sought escape, relief, and a specific goal in a cross country journey on foot and alone. He says yes but at first she gets an uneasy feeling from him but her grandmother decides to give him a chance. He then goes there and finds her. The characters were so much more than the often shallow beings of hollywood. In this movie Zac Efron has grown into a surprisingly matured actor compared to his teenage efforts. This movie runs the gamut of emotions. Analyzing the photo, he finds in the background a landmark that tells him she is in Louisiana.
Efron's character's emotional reserve and control, and his development into a gentle but strong, sensitive, fun-loving friend and eventual lover are inspiring to watch. It is definitely a tear jerker in some spots so get your kleenex reeady! Just after the ambush, Logan finds a picture of a young woman on the ground. After he miraculously escapes unscathed from several other situations in which others are badly injured or killed, Logan decides that the woman in the picture must be his guardian angel, even if she has no idea about him.
